Overview

ThumbPrint is a free thumbnail generator application for Windows XP. Originally I wrote it to automate the process of creating thumbnails for one of my own projects (see my Planet / Moon database) but then realized that with a few minor changes I could provide more general functionality which may prove useful to other people.

There are literally dozens of other thumbnail generators out there, but none that worked precisely the way I wanted, and (more importantly) were entirely free. So here's my contribution to the genre.

ThumbPrint is as lightweight as Windows applications go. The downloadable zipfile contains a single .exe file. This file does not change your Windows Registry; all you need to do to run the program is double-click the icon. Removing it is as simple as deleting the file.

It's written in C# using Visual Studio .NET 2003.

Requirements

In orded to run ThumbPrint you'll need the following:

• Windows XP
• You'll need the .NET Framework 1.1 installed. (Click to go to the Microsoft site to download it). To see if you have this already installed, do the following:
  1. Click on the START menu button
  2. Click on the "Run..." menu option
  3. Type in appwiz.cpl
  4. In the page which appears, scroll down the page and look for "Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1".
