Here’s a few pieces I wrote, during and after my music degree. Since then, I’ve been pretty much focusing on programming – but I still play piano quite a bit.
- Lyric Suite – 3rd movement
This is the 3rd movement of a piece for large ensemble (2 violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, bassoon, horn, piano, soprano and alto sax). It’s very much minimalist-sounding, inspired by Gavin Bryars and Steve Reich. Conducted by Andre Cormier. - Drill – 1st movement, 5th movement
A highly rhythmic, two-piano piece based on Scott Joplin and Steve Martland, named after Martland’s piece of the same name. The recording is a bit rough, but played excellently by pianists Jonathan Klassen and Stephen Runge. - 3-part Riff
Thickly layered, heavily-driven piece in changing meters. It was written with the intention of accompanying any form of visual media. Should be listened to loud! Played on ZeD TV a couple of times. - 5-wood
Peter-Gabriel-esque; hums along in a comfortable 5/4. - Short Dialogues – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
A series of six short vibraphone duets. All were originally conceived for larger ensembles, which over time have been distilled down to this.
